PKR Leaders and Members Depart Party Over Position Disappointment, Says Fuziah

Skudai: The recent departure of several PKR leaders and members to join the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) has been labeled as 'rather strange' by PKR's secretary-general, Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh. She revealed that internal investigations within the party suggest the exodus was fueled by dissatisfaction over the lack of appointments to positions within PKR.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fuziah remarked on the matter during a press conference following her working visit to SDS Food Sdn Bhd in Skudai. She mentioned reading their statement, which expressed disappointment over not receiving positions, and wished them well in their new political endeavors, hoping they would secure significant roles within MIC.

The departure was notably marked by former Johor PKR State Leadership Council vice-chairman M. Murugan, who, along with approximately 200 supporters, announced their move to join the MIC Iskandar Puteri division on June 28.

Addressing another political development, Fuziah commented on the call by PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang for voters to avoid supporting Pakatan Harapan (PH). She interpreted this as a possible indication of attempts to rekindle cooperation between Barisan Nasional (BN) and PAS. She advised Johor voters to carefully evaluate the situation ahead of the upcoming state election.

Fuziah also discussed Perikatan Nasional's (PN) strategy, which has been perceived as an attempt to attract BN supporters. She warned that this strategy might backfire, potentially revealing internal conflicts within PN. Fuziah believes that such a situation could ultimately be advantageous for Pakatan Harapan.

The Johor state election, set to take place with 172 candidates contesting 56 seats, will have its polling day on July 11, preceded by early voting on July 7.
