PKPS Contributes Over 2,000 SFV Bananas For HAWANA 2026 Fun Walk

Kuala lumpur: The Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) contributed more than 2,000 fresh Cavendish bananas to participants of the HAWANA 2026 Fun Walk at Titiwangsa Lake Gardens yesterday, in a show of support for National Journalists' Day (HAWANA) 2026.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, PKPS stated that the contribution through its agrotourism hub, Selangor Fruit Valley (SFV), reflects the corporation's ongoing commitment to promoting healthy lifestyle practices and appreciating the role of media practitioners in delivering information to the public. The donated Cavendish bananas were grown at SFV through the Agriculture Centre of Excellence (ACE).

PKPS will continue to empower the SFV project as an international-class agrotourism destination that contributes to the state's agro-economic development and the growth of the domestic tourism sector. The statement noted that SFV, located in Bestari Jaya, Selangor, also receives tourists from various countries, including the United Kingdom, Australia, Russia, Africa, China, India, Japan, and Korea, alongside local visitors.

For 2025, SFV recorded about 100,000 visitors and targets an increase to 150,000 visitors in 2026, in line with efforts to strengthen the state's agrotourism sector. It also said that PKPS group chief executive officer Datuk Dr Mohamad Khairil Mohamad Razi is scheduled to visit the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) headquarters at Wisma Bernama here tomorrow, following up on the HAWANA 2026 Fun Walk event.

The visit aims to strengthen strategic relations between both parties, while discussing issues related to national food security and the role of PKPS in facing future food supply challenges. The discussions will primarily focus on Selangor's food security strategies and the proactive steps being taken by PKPS to secure a sustainable and resilient national food supply.

Mohamad Khairil is also set to appear as a guest on Bernama TV's 'Apa Khabar Malaysia' segment (Astro 502) and Bernama Radio (FM 93.9) to share details on PKPS's efforts and initiatives in reinforcing Selangor's agrifood sector. PKPS hopes this contribution and active involvement can solidify cooperation between the corporate sector and the media, while increasing public awareness of the importance of supporting local agricultural products for national food security.

A Selangor state government subsidiary established in 1972, PKPS plays a role in driving the state's agricultural and agrifood sectors in line with the socio-economic development of the state's population through the implementation of various high-impact commercial projects and corporate social responsibility programmes.
