Kuala lumpur: The traffic light intersections at the Royal Thai Embassy and Lorong Ampang 2 on Jalan Ampang have been permanently closed to facilitate the Jalan Ampang upgrade project, which commences today. Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) announced that this closure is part of a broader 3.2-kilometre upgrade effort stretching from the Jalan Tun Razak intersection to the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the project aims to enhance the road network's efficiency, improve user safety, and ensure smoother traffic flow along this critical corridor. The initiative involves the construction of systematic infrastructure improvements, including road dividers, two-way four-lane roads, pedestrian walkways, and street lighting enhancements.
DBKL highlighted that the road divider construction and intersection closures are designed to minimize traffic weaving conflicts, reduce delays, and improve traffic flow on Jalan Ampang. To mitigate the closure's impact, DBKL has introduced an alternative route for commuters, allowing U-turns at Jalan Tun Razak towards Ampang and at Jalan Ampang Hilir for city-bound travel.
The public is urged to adhere to the provided traffic signs to ensure a seamless journey and minimize inconvenience.
