PERKESO Aims to Distribute 8,000 MYRIDERIDs to Contributors by Year-End

Penang: The Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) is aiming to distribute the MYRIDERID to at least 8,000 contributors across the nation by the end of this year. This initiative is part of PERKESO's efforts to enhance safety measures and provide emergency assistance for motorcyclists.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr. Azlan Darus, who heads PERKESO's Prevention, Medical, and Rehabilitation Division, explained that MYRIDERID is a QR code-based initiative designed to facilitate the quick identification of a rider's vital information in the event of an accident. This system aims to expedite the emergency treatment process. Dr. Azlan shared these insights with reporters during the launch of MYRIDERID at the Cup Prix race held at the Penang State Stadium, Batu Kawan.

The initiative is part of the broader Malaysian Rider Campaign (MYRider), which focuses on accident prevention and post-accident actions. During the launch, 1,000 contributors received the MYRIDERID. Dr. Azlan highlighted that the QR code can be scanned during an accident to provide immediate access to the victim's emergency contact details and medical information, such as blood type and medical history, which are critical for medical personnel.

The distribution of 8,000 MYRIDERIDs will be carried out nationwide through various programmes, including Cup Prix races and road safety campaigns in collaboration with employers. PERKESO has identified about 7,000 employers across Malaysia to help promote road safety messages under the theme 'Be safe on the road'.

Additionally, during the event, PERKESO signed a Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC) with Boon Siew Honda Sdn Bhd and MForce Bike Holdings Sdn Bhd to enhance strategic cooperation in promoting motorcycle safety. The collaboration will focus on advocacy programmes, education, and the promotion of a road safety culture, supporting the goal of nurturing safe and responsible Malaysian riders. Boon Siew Honda was represented by Managing Director and CEO Kunitomo, while MForce Bike Holdings was represented by COO Asri Ahmad.
