Tanjung Rambutan: The Perak Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) has confirmed receiving a report of a tiger attack on livestock near Kampung Kolam, Tanjung Rambutan, last Friday. Its director, Yusoff Shariff, stated that the report was lodged by villagers around noon, marking a significant concern for the local community.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Yusoff explained that the department believes the tiger to be an adult, based on paw prints and the nature of the attack. However, further details, such as the tiger’s gender and weight, remain undetermined until footage from cameras at the site is reviewed. This incident marks the second tiger sighting in the village, following the discovery of footprints at several locations on December 21, 2023.
Yusoff also noted that the department suspects the tiger is the same one responsible for attacking cattle in Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Choh, Ulu Kinta, on December 26 of the previous year. Villagers have been advised to closely monitor their livestock and restrict them from roaming freely, especially near the affected areas.
Meanwhile, a resident of Kampung Kolam, Muhammad Haniff Abd Aziz, expressed his hope for the tiger to be captured soon. He highlighted the anxiety among villagers, as the attack site is only about a kilometre away from residential areas.
