Perak Education Complex and Hospital School Initiative Enhance Education Access

Kuala lumpur: The Perak State Education Complex and the School in Hospital (SDH) initiative at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) were officially inaugurated today, marking a significant step forward in providing modern and inclusive educational facilities.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek highlighted that the RM56 million complex aims to bolster the state's education management and improve service delivery to educators, students, and parents. "The synergy between the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Public Works Department (JKR) will further enhance efforts to provide quality and safe infrastructure that benefits students," she stated during the project handover ceremony.

The event was attended by Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh, Deputy Director-General of Public Works (Building Sector) Datuk Ibrahim Esa, and MOE Deputy Secretary-General (Planning and Development) Datuk Wan Hashim Wan Rahim. The complex, built on a 6.2-acre plot, began construction in 2022 and was completed in March, featuring local architectural elements to serve as a landmark for education in the state. The facility will support operations at the State Education Department (JPN) with amenities including computer laboratories.

Minister Fadhlina also launched the SDH programme at HRPB, ensuring students undergoing medical treatment can maintain access to formal education. She noted that 21 SDH programmes have been implemented across 12 states, involving 18 hospitals under the Ministry of Health (MOH) and benefiting over 454,000 students to date.

In her speech, Fadhlina emphasized Perak's efforts in narrowing the urban-rural infrastructure gap, which has significantly improved education quality. She remarked on the importance of a conducive learning environment supported by proper facilities in enhancing students' academic performance.

Fadhlina also mentioned that the project aligns with the MADANI Government's commitment under the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2026-2035, focusing on strengthening service delivery at state and district levels.
