Kuala Lumpur: A male pedestrian was killed after being struck by a car that lost control while he was taking photos of an accident at Kilometre 14, Iskandar Sultan Highway, this morning. North Johor Bahru district police chief ACP Balveer Singh Mahindar Singh reported that the man, aged 68, succumbed to severe head injuries while receiving treatment at Sultanah Aminah Hospital in the city.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the incident occurred at approximately 6.40 am. The sequence of events began when a Perodua Alza, traveling from Jalan Prisma towards Johor Bahru, attempted to avoid a Honda CRV that had skidded and collided with a concrete divider. This evasive maneuver caused the Perodua Alza to lose control and strike the pedestrian who was documenting the previous crash.
The driver of the Perodua Alza, a 40-year-old local man, also sustained injuries in the incident, affecting his head, face, left hand, and right leg. The police have initiated an investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
ACP Balveer Singh has appealed to the public for assistance in gathering information pertinent to the case. He urged anyone with details to contact the investigating officer, Inspector Ong Jin Siong, at 011-16490168.
