Kuala lumpur: The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has mobilized 5,121 personnel to manage the security for the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM) and Related Meetings at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) from July 8 to 11. Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department director Datuk Seri Azmi Abu Kassim confirmed the deployment and assured that a comprehensive security plan has been implemented to ensure the event proceeds smoothly.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, PDRM has put in place a range of measures focusing on VIP security, traffic management, and emergency response. The force will employ advanced technology, including facial recognition systems and explosives detection, to maintain a secure environment. The security operations will involve various PDRM departments and units such as the Kuala Lumpur Police Contingent Headquarters, Management Department, Federal Reserve Force, Special Operations Unit, 69 Commando, and Special Branch.
Security measures extend beyond the meeting venue to include critical locations like Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Subang Airport. Controls will also be enforced at accommodations for delegates and specific zones around the arrival area. These zones will be designated as restricted or semi-restricted, allowing limited access to authorized individuals only.
To facilitate uninterrupted proceedings, PDRM has conducted a series of security trainings and simulations. These exercises, which included convoy movement training and testing of security systems at the conference site and delegates’ hotels, were aimed at enhancing coordination within and between government agencies.
