Bidor: The Perak Veterinary Services Department (DVS) managed to foil an attempt to transfer 101 goats illegally in Bidor in an operation named Ops Korban Tegas 2026 early this morning. Its director, Dr. Saifullizam Abd Kadir, stated that an enforcement team successfully intercepted a vehicle at 3:30 am Thursday at the Southbound Ladang Bikam stop.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, inspections revealed that the driver failed to produce any legal transfer documents. They had attempted to cover the entire back-end of the vehicle using canvas to elude authorities. This strategic concealment was intended to bypass the regulatory checks that are in place to monitor livestock transfer, especially during high-traffic periods like Hari Raya Aidiladha.
The case is currently under investigation under Section 36(1) of the Animals Act 1953. Dr. Saifullizam highlighted that the law imposes a fine of no more than RM15,000 if found guilty. This operation underscores the department's commitment to enforcing legal standards in livestock management.
He further explained that Ops Korban Tegas 2026, conducted in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha, aims at controlling and curbing the transfer of livestock without proper approval. This operation is part of a broader initiative to ensure animal welfare and compliance with legal requirements during festive seasons when livestock transfers are more frequent.
