Sarawak: The number of flood evacuees housed at temporary evacuation centres in Sarawak has dropped while Sabah and Johor recorded an increase as of 8pm today. In Sarawak, the Sarawak Disaster Management Secretariat reported a decrease in evacuees to 5,125 from 5,281 earlier in the day. Sarikei became the latest area to be affected, leading to the opening of a relief centre, which brings the total number of centres to 30 in the region.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Bintulu Division saw evacuee numbers fall from 1,889 to 1,865, and the Miri Division experienced a similar trend, with numbers decreasing from 1,291 to 1,217. However, in Sibu, the number of flood victims increased to 876 from 848, while the Serian Division remained constant at 507 victims. The Samarahan Division saw a decrease to 149 victims from 294. In Mukah, the number of evacuees rose to 501 from 452, and Sarikei reported 10 evacuees from two families.
In Sabah, the Sabah State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat noted an increase in evacuees to 228 from 60 families, up from 201 from 53 families earlier in the day. Kinabatangan remains the only district affected by floods, housing 73 people from 20 families at Sekolah Kebangsaan Sukau PPS and 155 people from 40 families at Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Garam PPS.
Meanwhile, in Johor, the number of evacuees climbed to 364 from 349. State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) chairman Tan Sri Dr Azmi Rohani stated that all evacuees, comprising 106 families, are currently housed at three relief centres in the Kota Tinggi district. The activated centres are Dewan Muafakat Taman Desaru Utama with 173 evacuees, Dewan Kampung Baru Sungai Mas with 34, and Sekolah Kebangsaan Bandar Penawar with 157 evacuees. The affected areas include Taman Desaru Utama, Kampung Baru Sungai Mas, and Taman Penawar Harmoni.
