Tokyo: Nippon Kinzoku Co Ltd, based in Tokyo, has announced plans to increase sales of its Long Die Life (L-DieL) finish stainless steel. This surface-treated material is engineered to reduce die wear during press operations.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, L-DieL functions by softening the passive oxide film on stainless steel. This film, a thin layer of chromium oxide, protects against corrosion but also contributes to significant wear on pressing dies. The L-DieL treatment addresses this issue, enhancing productivity and extending the lifespan of tools used in metal processing.
Nippon Kinzoku has certified L-DieL as an ‘Eco-Product’. The company stated that this product supports customers in reducing costs while also aligning with its sustainability objectives, such as achieving net-zero carbon dioxide emissions by 2050.
The finish is applicable to commonly used stainless steels like SUS304 and SUS430 and adheres to Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS) for both chemical and mechanical properties. Despite undergoing treatment, the steel maintains its standard appearance and corrosion resistance.
This product is part of Nippon Kinzoku’s 11th management plan, “Nippon Kinzoku 2030”, and is designed to meet customer needs under the “Near Net Performance” concept, which aims to achieve the required performance of the final product with the material provided.
By reducing maintenance and downtime, L-DieL positions Nippon Kinzoku as a leader in sustainable and efficient metal processing solutions.
