Kuala lumpur: The decision to take no further action (NFA) on the 47 charges of criminal breach of trust, corruption, and money laundering involving Yayasan Akalbudi funds linked to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is the prerogative of the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC), stated Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail. He emphasized that this decision aligns with the provisions of Article 145 of the Federal Constitution, which grants the Attorney-General the authority to initiate, conduct, or discontinue any legal proceedings.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the AGC announced that it had decided on NFA in relation to the charges involving Ahmad Zahid, resulting in the final termination of the case. Saifuddin Nasution affirmed the decision's adherence to the legal framework and constitutional authority after officiating a Back to School Programme 2026 event.
Meanwhile, Saifuddin Nasution also highlighted improvements at the Kulim Immigration Office, which has relocated to a more spacious and comfortable facility. This move addresses previous public complaints about congestion and lack of amenities at the former location. The new premises aim to enhance service quality, with passport applications now processed and issued within approximately one hour.
The Home Minister stressed the importance of comfort and efficiency in public dealings, given that immigration services are frontline agencies. The strategic location of the new office is expected to ease congestion, benefiting residents of southern Kedah and Penang, especially during weekends.
