Negeri Sembilan Emerges as Premier Investment Hub with RM3 Billion Inflow

Negeri Sembilan: Negeri Sembilan continues to attract significant investor interest, with the state government actively engaging with potential domestic and foreign investors, as stated by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun. The Malaysian Investment Development Authority reported RM3 billion in investments for the state in the second quarter of 2024.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Negeri Sembilan is working on enhancing its economic competitiveness and boosting its gross domestic product (GDP) sustainably and inclusively, aligning with the objectives of the 13th Malaysia Plan. Aminuddin delivered these remarks in his congratulatory and loyalty speech during the 77th birthday celebrations of the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir, at Istana Besar Seri Menanti.

Aminuddin highlighted that the National Investment Council approved the Central Region Industrial Cluster Development initiative on October 16 last year, covering Negeri Sembilan, Selangor, Melaka, and Kuala Lumpur. This initiative aims to develop a distinct industrial cluster identity in the manufacturing sector through joint ventures and collaborative efforts among the states to attract targeted investments.

This strategy is in line with the New Industrial Master Plan 2030, which focuses on cross-border economic development, particularly in Bandar Enstek and Nilai. Furthermore, the state government supports proposals for new highway networks, including the Senawang KLIA Expressway and the West Coast Expressway (WCE) extension, which will connect Banting, Selangor, across Negeri Sembilan and Melaka to Gelang Patah, Johor.

Aminuddin expressed confidence that the WCE alignment along the Port Dickson coast would bring economic and developmental benefits to the state, further cementing its status as a preferred destination for investors. He also emphasized the state government’s commitment to reforming efforts in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and energy transition.

Seremban City is currently in the second phase of the smart city development framework, and plans for the ‘Smart AI Container Port’ in Port Dickson are underway. The development plan proposes integrating with the free industrial zone, incorporating components to promote entrepot trade and encourage export-oriented manufacturing activities.
