Kota kinabalu: The director-general of the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) has arrived in Sabah to lead disaster relief operations, collaborating with agencies such as the Civil Defence Force, the Social Welfare Department, and disaster management committees at the state and district levels. This initiative comes after the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, announced an immediate allocation of RM10 million from the National Disaster Fund.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi stated that the RM10 million allocation will provide cash assistance to families whose homes have been impacted by landslides or floods. Additionally, the funds will support the construction of new homes under the Temporary People’s Housing Project (PPRS) for those who have lost their residences.
Dr Ahmad Zahid mentioned that the exact number of new homes required for disaster victims will be determined in collaboration with state- and district-level disaster management committees. This coordination is essential to ensure that the aid effectively reaches those in need.
As the Central Disaster Management Committee chairman, Ahmad Zahid underscored the government’s commitment to addressing the welfare of flood and landslide victims in Sabah, ensuring that their needs are prioritized.
