NADIpreneur Initiative Empowers 3,390 Women Entrepreneurs Across Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur: The NADIpreneur programme, a pivotal initiative under the National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI), has successfully produced 3,390 women entrepreneurs, accounting for 85 percent of its participants, as reported by Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil. These women have excelled in entrepreneurship and have become role models, inspiring others to join the programme.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, these entrepreneurs have leveraged high-speed internet access provided by NADI to enhance their skills and access markets for their products. Some have even reached international markets, contributing to household economic improvement. Fahmi shared these insights at a press conference during the 2025 World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) celebration.

The event also saw the presence of Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa and Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) chairman Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din. Fahmi highlighted success stories, such as a businesswoman from Kuching who earns approximately RM25,000 monthly from selling bead handicrafts.

The NADIpreneur programme has trained 4,000 entrepreneurs, showcasing its impact within the community. This year, the Communications Ministry aims to engage 7,000 participants, equipping them with skills to enhance their businesses through e-commerce platforms. Fahmi emphasized the potential of safe internet use and digital tools in increasing economic participation.

Nationwide, 1,099 NADI centres have been established to provide internet access and expose local communities to technology, aiming to uplift their economic and social status through NADI facilities and activities.

During the WTISD event, Fahmi also unveiled a commemorative stamp celebrating the 160th anniversary of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). He described the stamp as a significant symbol of the enduring legacy of both the ITU and Malaysia in global telecommunications.

Fahmi stated that the stamp reflects the evolution of communication technologies and honors international cooperation in bridging the digital divide. Malaysia, a member of the ITU since 1958, reaffirms its commitment to ITU’s mission for universal connectivity and inclusive digital growth.
