Seremban: The Negeri Sembilan Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) detected 369 cases of various offences through inspections at business premises, involving a total of RM91,700 in compounds from Jan 1 until yesterday. State chief enforcement officer, Faizah Othman, stated that these inspections revealed 249 offences under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011, while 120 cases were identified under the Weights and Measures Act 1972.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, today’s inspections focused on 41 premises of durian traders, resulting in fines for 12 traders, totaling RM2,500. These traders were penalized for failing to display price tags and using expired weighing equipment. Faizah highlighted that the operation involved over 30 enforcement officers, including personnel from KPDN branches in Port Dickson and Kuala Pilah, who conducted inspections on durian traders around Seremban.

Faizah reminded traders, particularly those dealing with durians, to ensure their weighing equipment and scales are verified and not expired. She emphasized that traders using non-compliant weighing equipment could face penalties under the Weights and Measures Act 1972. With the durian season expected to continue until August, she urged all traders, including small-scale and seasonal operators, to comply with regulations and legislation governing buying and selling transactions.

She concluded by stressing the importance of proactive efforts from all parties to ensure a successful durian season that respects consumer rights and benefits traders alike.
