MOTAC Strengthens MM2H Programme for Improved Transparency and Efficiency.

PUTRAJAYA: The Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry (MOTAC) is enhancing the systems and processes of the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme to ensure transparency, effectiveness, and smoother operations. Its minister, Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, emphasized the ministry’s commitment to closely monitoring MM2H operators to maintain transparency, efficiency, and compliance with the programme’s requirements.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Tiong highlighted that any violations by operators, such as unauthorized fees, would lead to strict penalties, including license revocation. In a statement following an engagement session with MM2H operators, Tiong revealed that steps are being taken to simplify the monitoring process for MM2H applications. A one-stop centre will be established to manage inquiries, ensuring clearer communication and quicker resolutions for applicants.

The collaboration with state governments aims to standardize property purchase conditions, aligning with Cabinet decisions to reduce co
nfusion among applicants. Tiong stressed the importance of consistency in streamlining the process. Proposed improvements under review include extending the property purchase period and replacing fixed deposits with insurance guarantees, offering more flexibility to participants without compromising the programme’s policies.

Tiong also acknowledged suggestions from MM2H operators to enhance the programme, such as expanding language options for the driving license test, improving official document translation processes, and enhancing support for hiring domestic helpers. He assured that these suggestions would be carefully examined to improve the MM2H programme comprehensively.

Tiong reiterated MOTAC’s commitment to supporting all stakeholders involved in the MM2H programme and promoting the initiative professionally to attract quality participants, thereby contributing positively to the nation’s economy.
