Kuala lumpur: The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) has allocated RM1.2 million to construct an open hall and upgrade a futsal court at Kampung Pulau, Masjid Tanah. This initiative is part of the Kampung Angkat MADANI programme.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Secretary-general Datuk Dr Anesee Ibrahim outlined that RM1 million was designated for the construction of the open hall by the Alor Gajah Municipal Council (MPAG), while RM200,000 was earmarked for the futsal court upgrade by Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM). Kampung Pulau was selected as MOHE's Kampung Angkat MADANI in mid-2024, with UTeM appointed as the implementing agency.
Anesee emphasized that the programme aligns with the Malaysia MADANI aspiration, focusing on compassion, well-being, and social responsibility. He also handed over a replica of a key to the hall to Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, who is the Tanjung Bidara assemblyman.
Anesee highlighted that five community guidance programmes have been executed under the Kampung Angkat MADANI programme by UTeM. These initiatives include a fertigation-based melon planting project, a used cooking oil recycling programme, an IoT-based aquaponics pilot project, a food and beverage entrepreneurship course for Kampung Pulau women, and a STEM awareness programme.
The government aims to enhance digital literacy and soft skills among the community, as well as foster leadership and character development among university students through volunteerism and community service activities. Anesee expressed confidence that Kampung Pulau residents will substantially benefit from the programme's implementation and hopes for continued collaboration between higher education institutions and the community.
Melaka Chief Minister Ab Rauf stated that the Kampung Pulau Open Hall should serve as a pilot model for creating rural community spaces. These spaces are intended to function as centers for social activities, youth engagement, and knowledge transfer with universities. He added that the facility is expected to benefit more than 400 Kampung Pulau residents and has the potential to host numerous community programmes each year.
