Kuala Lumpur: DHL and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to extend their longstanding partnership. MIDA announced in a joint statement that the renewed collaboration will see all four DHL business divisions operating in Malaysia-DHL Express, DHL Supply Chain, DHL Global Forwarding, and DHL eCommerce-working closely with MIDA to enhance the logistics and supply chain ecosystem. This effort aims to support Malaysia’s position as a leading hub for foreign investments.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, MIDA chief executive officer Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid expressed that the renewed partnership with DHL signifies a strategic alliance that will accelerate Malaysia’s journey towards becoming the region’s premier smart logistics hub. He highlighted the transformation of Malaysia’s logistics sector, which is increasingly characterized by innovation and technological advancements such as AI-powered route optimization, real-time tracking, advanced warehouse robotics, and autonomous delivery systems.
DHL Express Malaysia and Brunei managing director Julian Neo remarked that with the rise of multi-shoring and multi-sourcing, Malaysia is well-positioned to capitalize on this momentum due to its regional connectivity and conducive business environment. He emphasized that DHL Express, with its extensive network and experience in facilitating cross-border trade, is eager to assist MIDA in attracting global investors by enabling seamless market entry and providing comprehensive logistics solutions. Neo underscored the shared mission to enhance the country’s competitive and innovative potential.
DHL reaffirmed its commitment to elevating Malaysia’s profile among multinational corporations seeking to diversify their manufacturing and sourcing operations. The company stated that its strong presence in Malaysia, along with its end-to-end logistics and supply chain capabilities, positions it well to support foreign investors in strengthening supply chain resilience by leveraging Malaysia’s strategic location.
