Melaka: The Melaka state government is prioritising five key focus areas in the Sungai Udang state constituency under the “Wakil Rakyat Untuk Rakyat” (WRUR) initiative, aimed at enhancing the well-being and comfort of the local population.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh announced these priorities: public infrastructure, healthcare, education, community welfare and development, and the Digital Village initiative. A significant infrastructure project involves the RM44.8 million upgrade of the water reticulation system at Kem Terendak, slated to begin in May 2026 with completion expected in two years. Local authorities are implementing four road resurfacing projects valued at RM1.24 million, with one completed and three ongoing.
In healthcare, the Ministry of Defence is overseeing a major RM325 million Armed Forces Hospital project expected to be completed by January 2029. Upgrades to the Sungai Udang Health and Dental Clinics, costing a total of RM450,000, will start later this year, with completion anticipated by March 2026.
On the education front, the computer lab at MRSM Terendak will see a RM400,000 upgrade by October. The government is acquiring land for a new building at Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Udang, with an estimated cost of RM2 million, and plans to construct a new religious school, SRA JAIM Sungai Udang, in 2025. Immediate repairs are also planned for SRA JAIM Bertam Ulu and SJK(C) Bertam Ulu.
For community welfare, the Social Welfare Department is providing RM1.21 million monthly to 554 eligible recipients in the Sungai Udang area. The Digital Village initiative has seen the completion of digital address sticker installation in two villages, with eight more villages expected to follow by the end of June.
