Kuala Lumpur: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission’s (MCMC) Microsoft AI TEACH Skills for AI-Enabled Economy programme aims to prepare the community to face challenges in the digital world. Negeri Sembilan Heritage, Technology, Innovation, and Digital Action Committee Datuk Mohd Faizal Ramli highlighted that this initiative is crucial in empowering the local community by developing artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the programme is aligned with the goals of the Negeri Sembilan Digital Economy Plan 2027, which seeks to cultivate a digitally literate society. Mohd Faizal expressed satisfaction that Negeri Sembilan will be a key player in adapting AI technology, which is expected to positively impact the local community. He described the program as a strategic step towards enhancing digital skills among the people.
The initiative is designed to strengthen workforce competitiveness and bridge the digital divide between urban and rural areas. Mohd Faizal made these remarks during the opening of the state-level MCMC Microsoft AI TEACH Skills for AI-Enabled Economy event. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Southern Region MCMC senior director Mohamad Rizal Ahmad and Negeri Sembilan Economic Planning Unit director Datuk Muhammad Nahar Sidek.
The programme will focus on the NADI (National Information Dissemination Centre) community in Negeri Sembilan, in line with the government’s goal to reduce the digital gap so no one is left behind in technological progress. Since its launch on June 20 last year, the programme has trained 1,352 local community members from various regions, including Kuala Lumpur, Perak, Penang, Melaka, and Selangor.
Participants receive comprehensive training in AI, covering basic AI concepts, ethics, and resume and portfolio development to enhance employment opportunities. Participant V Hema, a 31-year-old quality officer, found the programme particularly helpful for improving skills necessary in today’s challenging world. Another participant, Nurul Fadzni Muhammad, emphasized the importance of AI technology as a tool for inclusive and sustainable economic development.
