MATRADE Collaborates with CBI to Enhance Malaysian SME Export Potential

Kuala lumpur: Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) has partnered with the Dutch government agency, the Centre for the Promotion of Imports from Developing Countries (CBI), to integrate CBI's European Market Intelligence (MI) resources into the MADANI Digital Trade Platform (MDTP) under a digital partnership programme.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, CBI, which is part of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency and commissioned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, supports small and medium enterprises (SMEs) by providing training, market information, and advisory services to help improve product quality and meet European standards.

MATRADE chief executive officer Abu Bakar Yusof stated that the initiative aims to empower Malaysian SMEs and exporters with essential market insights to facilitate their expansion into European markets. He emphasized the importance of gaining access to reliable and high-quality market information for SMEs seeking international growth. By providing access to European market intelligence, Malaysian SMEs are expected to enhance their capabilities to export value-added and niche products to Europe.

Through this partnership, MDTP will act as a crucial business support hub, delivering these insights directly to Malaysian businesses. The collaboration leverages CBI's Market Information iframe technology to embed a simplified version of its platform directly within MDTP, allowing users to conveniently access extensive market research without leaving the platform.

MATRADE highlighted the importance of timely and relevant data, noting that CBI's MI service offers comprehensive and up-to-date analysis of European market trends, requirements, and opportunities. The initiative also provides access to a robust library of resources, including approximately 250 market studies, 30 news updates, and 25 webinars produced annually, focusing on key sectors such as agriculture, consumer products, and services.

With this enhanced access, SMEs can gain valuable insights into high-potential European markets for specific products and services, effective market entry strategies and distribution channels, regulatory requirements and compliance standards, and methods to identify and connect with potential buyers in Europe.
