Masjid Warisan at TRX: A Necessary Facility, Says YADIM

Kuala lumpur: The construction of the Masjid Warisan in front of the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) Tower is being defended as a legitimate necessity for the local Muslim community, according to Zamri Zainal Abidin, the chief executive officer of Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (YADIM). He emphasized that the mosque represents a basic place of worship for the thousands of Muslim employees in the financial hub and should not be a source of controversy.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Zamri highlighted that the mosque should have been established when the financial district first became operational. He pointed to the KLCC development and Merdeka 118, both of which have integrated mosque facilities, as examples of how places of worship can coexist with commercial developments without disrupting economic activity.

Zamri argued that it is unfair to deny the Muslim workers at TRX a place to worship, given their contributions to the national economy. He dismissed concerns that the call to prayer would interrupt business activities, noting that no policies require commercial operations to halt during the azan.

He further elaborated that the construction of Masjid Warisan aligns with the Malaysia MADANI framework, which promotes inclusive well-being and shared prosperity. Zamri also called on political leaders to avoid using the mosque's construction for political gain, warning that it could lead to unnecessary tension.

The project has received official backing, with Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Dr. Zulkifli Hasan confirming that the construction of Masjid Warisan at TRX will proceed as planned. Dr. Zulkifli emphasized the project's importance in enhancing community harmony and advised those with concerns to engage with the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council for clarification.
