Kuala lumpur: Malaysia’s palm oil exports saw a decline of 10.52 percent month-on-month (m-o-m) in June, dropping to 1.26 million tonnes from 1.41 million tonnes in May. The Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) reported this decrease in its latest industry performance analysis.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the country’s crude palm oil (CPO) production also experienced a downturn, with a 4.48 percent reduction to 1.69 million tonnes from the previous month’s 1.77 million tonnes. This decline was reflected in palm kernel output, which decreased by 5.66 percent m-o-m to 396,863 tonnes from May’s 420,658 tonnes.
In terms of production specifics, crude palm kernel oil production fell by 8.48 percent m-o-m, reaching 192,665 tonnes from 210,512 tonnes. Additionally, palm kernel cake output saw a decline of 7.85 percent m-o-m, recording 213,398 tonnes compared to 231,568 tonnes in May.
The MPOB’s report highlighted changes in inventories, with the CPO stockpile decreasing by 5.42 percent to 1.04 million tonnes in June from 1.10 million tonnes in May. Meanwhile, processed palm oil stocks increased by 12.19 percent m-o-m to 988,840 tonnes from 881,372 tonnes. Consequently, the total palm oil inventories rose to 2.03 million tonnes in June, up from 1.99 million tonnes in May.
On the export front, palm kernel oil exports experienced a significant drop of 27.60 percent, falling to 86,173 tonnes from May’s 119,020 tonnes. Palm kernel cake exports slightly eased by 1.84 percent m-o-m to 189,774 tonnes from 193,328 tonnes. Furthermore, oleochemical exports slipped by 12.95 percent m-o-m to 202,829 tonnes from 233,009 tonnes, and biodiesel exports saw a dramatic plunge of 91.50 percent to 2,792 tonnes m-o-m from 32,848 tonnes.
The month of June recorded no CPO imports, while palm kernel oil imports surged by 47.70 percent m-o-m, reaching 11,926 tonnes compared to May’s 8,074 tonnes.
