Malaysia’s Foreign Policy Promotes Unrestricted Diplomatic Relations

Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia’s foreign policy, centered on peace, freedom, neutrality, and investor-friendliness, empowers the nation to engage with any global entity without external pressure, according to Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan. He emphasized that Malaysia is capable of establishing bilateral relationships with countries that honor the rules-based international order and refrain from inhumane practices.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohamad highlighted the recent official visit by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to Russia as an example of Malaysia’s diplomatic outreach. He stressed that the long-standing relationship with Russia is based on mutual respect and does not imply an alignment with Russian ideologies. The visit aims to bolster bilateral trade relations and explore new market opportunities.

Mohamad, also serving as Rembau MP, noted that these diplomatic efforts are part of a broader strategy to attract foreign investments, contributing to Malaysia’s development. He mentioned the ongoing preparations for the 46th ASEAN Summit scheduled for May 26 and 27, which are on track.

He proposed remote working or learning arrangements for schools, government offices, and private establishments in affected areas during the summit to alleviate traffic congestion and ensure smooth movement for visiting leaders. The summit will unite leaders from the bloc’s 10 member countries to address regional challenges, enhance economic collaboration, and uphold inclusivity and sustainability principles.
