Malaysian Ministers Emphasize Unity and Sacrifices Ahead of 68th National Day Celebrations

Kuala lumpur: As Malaysia gears up to celebrate its 68th National Day, Cabinet members have taken to social media to extend their heartfelt messages to Malaysians, emphasizing the importance of national unity and the sacrifices that have paved the way for the country’s independence.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dzulkefly Ahmad highlighted that independence is not just about freedom from colonialism but also about building a fair and united nation. He stressed that unity is the nation’s strongest defence, urging Malaysians to reject prejudice and promote mutual care in line with this year’s National Day theme, “Malaysia MADANI: Rakyat Disantuni.” Dzulkefly also linked independence to freedom from disease and healthcare disparities, noting that the true value of independence is reflected in the health and dignity of the people.

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil echoed sentiments from the Prime Minister’s National Day address, underscoring the sacrifices made for independence and the need for unity to achieve national prosperity. Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail assured the ministry’s commitment to safeguarding peace and independence.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar pointed out that independence also means freedom from poverty, highlighting the role of zakat and wakaf in building a supportive social network. Meanwhile, Plantation and Commodities Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani urged citizens to defend independence by strengthening unity.

National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang credited the country’s independence to both visionary leaders and the courage of the people. He emphasized that the nation’s strength is built on the contributions of its citizens. Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu acknowledged the critical role of farmers and fishermen in sustaining the nation, affirming government support for these sectors.

Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin both called for continued unity and gratitude towards the nation’s founding figures. Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said expressed hopes for lasting peace and prosperity.

Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Datuk Seri R. Ramanan highlighted unity as the cornerstone of independence, urging Malaysians to celebrate diversity and the national identity symbolized by the Jalur Gemilang.
