Malaysia Takes Lead in ASEAN Real Estate with AREC and ARCHIDEX Integration

Kuala lumpur: The integration of the ASEAN Real Estate Conference (AREC) and the Architecture, Interior Design and Building Exhibition (ARCHIDEX) 2025 positions Malaysia as a regional leader in real estate and urban development within ASEAN. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof emphasized the significance of these events during their simultaneous hosting at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) and Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), highlighting Malaysia’s central role in regional collaboration and showcasing ASEAN’s urban development priorities on a global stage.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fadillah explained that AREC facilitates high-level policy dialogue and strategic insights from housing ministers, city leaders, and developers. In contrast, ARCHIDEX complements it as Asia’s leading exhibition by showcasing innovative products, materials, and solutions for architecture and the built environment. ARCHIDEX draws over 56,000 visitors from more than 110 countries, providing AREC with a powerful international platform to elevate ASEAN’s real estate and housing agenda globally.

Fadillah articulated the events’ primary goal: developing and publishing practical, actionable, and impactful strategies reflecting ASEAN’s unique social, economic, and environmental housing landscape. As the Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, he encouraged industry players and stakeholders to leverage the four-day event to showcase real estate innovations and foster collaboration.

Both events serve as collaborative platforms to address challenges in the housing and real estate industry, aiming to build a resilient, inclusive, and forward-looking sector. Fadillah stressed the importance of innovation as a necessity for resilience and progress, advocating for advancements in green buildings, climate-adaptive design, digital land systems, and property technology solutions to drive housing policies and urban strategies.

Fadillah noted ASEAN’s rapid urban growth, with over 70 million people expected to join the urban population by 2030, bringing the total projection to 373 million. This growth presents challenges and opportunities, positioning ASEAN to lead in developing smart, inclusive, and climate-conscious real estate models. Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming was also present at the event.
