Kuala lumpur: The recent meetings between Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and high-level foreign leaders from Australia, Pakistan, Turkiye, and Palestine emphasized Malaysia’s dedication to enhancing trade and investment relationships with key global partners.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Investment, Trade, and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz highlighted that discussions with these nations addressed strategic initiatives, including the review of free trade agreements. These include the Malaysia-Australia Free Trade Agreement (MAFTA) and the Malaysia-Pakistan Closer Economic Partnership Agreement (MPCEPA).
The discussions also focused on expanding the Malaysia-Turkiye Free Trade Agreement (MTFTA) to encompass services and investment sectors, alongside continued support for the Palestinian economy. The minister emphasized the importance of active participation from these countries in the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2025, and exploring opportunities in high-
tech and sustainable sectors such as renewable energy, the digital economy, and the halal industry.
Tengku Zafrul reiterated Malaysia’s aim to drive economic growth that is inclusive and resilient, ultimately bringing shared prosperity to all involved nations. He shared these insights in a post on X, underscoring the country’s strategic approach to international economic collaboration.
