Kuala lumpur: Malaysia has invited China’s JD.com to explore investment opportunities in the Smart Warehouse located in Selangor Aeropark. This initiative aims to strengthen Kuala Lumpur International Airport’s (KLIA) status as a regional logistics hub.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Transport Minister Anthony Loke emphasized that such an investment would enhance efficiency and support Malaysian and ASEAN products in accessing the Chinese market. During a focused engagement with JD.com, Loke underscored Malaysia’s goal to transform KLIA into a major air cargo hub for the ASEAN region, aligning with JD.com’s strategy to expand its trade network across ASEAN and China.
Loke mentioned that during his meeting with JD.com, he reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment to strengthening the cooperation between KLIA and Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport. This commitment follows a joint statement made after President Xi Jinping’s state visit to Malaysia in April. Both parties expressed a shared vision of creating a seamless ‘Air Silk Road’ between ASEAN and China through collaboration in civil aviation and logistics.
Loke accompanied Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on a four-day working visit to Beijing. The visit included strategic discussions with top Chinese industry leaders to enhance investment and explore new collaboration opportunities.
