Malaysia Secures Hosting Rights for 2029 Asian Road Cycling Championships

Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF) has announced that Malaysia will host the 2029 Asian Road Cycling Championships. MNCF president Datuk Amarjit Gill Singh, who also serves as the Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC) president, revealed that the decision was finalized on September 18, following Malaysia’s successful bid against two other countries.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Amarjit Gill Singh expressed his satisfaction with the outcome, stating, “I am happy to inform you that Malaysia has won the bid to organise the 2029 Asian Road Cycling Championships. I believe this is good news for us as two other countries had also bid, but we won.”

Malaysia previously hosted the prestigious cycling event in Putrajaya in 2012. Amarjit further elaborated on the strategic decision to award the hosting rights several years in advance, emphasizing the importance of long-term planning and preparation for the sport’s development. “When I took over the ACC presidency in February, I wanted there to be long-term planning, which is why we have awarded (the hosting of) major championships four years ahead,” he explained. “This will give us time to plan well in advance and have ample time to prepare.”

Despite the successful bid, the MNCF has not yet confirmed the specific location where the event will be held in 2029.
