Kuala lumpur: Malaysia MADANI is more than a political slogan; it is a framework to ease public anxiety, restore trust, and promote daily well-being, said the Community Communications Department (J-KOM) Strategic Adviser Datuk Dr Budiman Mohd Zohdi. He emphasized that the MADANI philosophy was crafted to address the growing challenges of cost-of-living pressures, security concerns, misinformation, and the transformative impact of social media on communication.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Budiman explained that at its core, the MADANI initiative aims to make citizens feel secure, enable them to earn a living, and instill a sense of national pride. He clarified that MADANI is designed to tackle these issues based on current realities, not just as a catchy political phrase. He shared these insights during his appearance on Bernama Radio's Jendela Fikir: MADANI-Memahami Teras, Merasai Manfaat programme.
Budiman pointed out that the MADANI pillars most relevant to the populace are well-being and compassion, as reflected in initiatives like MADANI Rahmah Sales, cash aid, and BUDI 95. He highlighted that this novel approach demonstrates the government's commitment to listening to public feedback and adjusting policies in line with its financial capabilities. He noted that when certain groups express that existing aid is inadequate, the government reassesses and modifies its policies, illustrating a dynamic and adaptable governance model.
Discussing the public's understanding of the MADANI concept, Budiman observed that awareness is growing, although there remain differences in perceptions between urban and rural communities. He suggested that understanding could be enhanced by comparing conditions before and after the implementation of specific policies. Additionally, he urged citizens to manage information responsibly, especially on social media, to prevent the dissemination of misleading content that could undermine trust in institutions and the government.
He remarked that, in a democratic society, criticism is essential but should be respectful, fact-based, and paired with constructive solutions. He reminded the audience of the importance of adhering to the Constitution and Rukun Negara, which include principles of courtesy and morality.
Budiman underscored that the success of the MADANI framework depends not only on government communication agencies but also on the collaboration of all ministries and citizens to foster a healthy national communication ecosystem. He concluded by stating that while decision-making is crucial, the process is equally important, and if everyone contributes, MADANI will remain pertinent both now and in the future.
