Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia is currently finalising the National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Technology Action Plan which sets a clear governance framework to ensure that AI serves not only efficiency, but also ethics, equity, and public interest. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof highlighted the focus on key sectors such as education, healthcare, energy, and agriculture, while emphasizing the importance of building Malaysia’s AI talent pipeline within the public sector and among youth.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fadillah, who also serves as the Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister, stressed the necessity for structural reform in the civil service, which must be accompanied by system transformation. In this context, digitalisation has become both the enabler and accelerator of change. He elaborated during his speech at the United Nations Public Service Forum 2025, held between June 23-25.
Guided by the MyDigital Blueprint and the Public Service Digitalisation Strategic Plan, Malaysia has successfully digitised over 500 government services. This digitisation effort has streamlined access through secure platforms such as MyDigital ID and real-time dashboards, Fadillah added, further underscoring the country’s commitment to integrating AI and digital technologies in public services.
