Malaysia Confident of Meeting All Targets at World Expo 2025 Osaka

Kuala lumpur: Malaysia is confident in achieving all its targets for participation at World Expo 2025 in Osaka, said Malaysia Secretariat deputy pavilion director, Nor Haslynda Wan Rahim. She announced that the Malaysia Pavilion has attracted over two million visitors and secured more than RM9.1 billion in potential investments since the expo began on April 13, 2025.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Nor Haslynda highlighted the strong response, particularly from Japanese visitors, for Malaysian culinary dishes such as roti canai and nasi lemak. A survey by a Japanese TV channel voted the Malaysian Pavilion as offering the best culinary experience among international pavilions. The roti canai and nasi lemak were so popular that Japanese visitors queued for nearly two hours to try these iconic Malaysian dishes.

Nor Haslynda explained that the ‘Flying Roti Canai’, where the dough is spun high into the air, was a unique attraction, priced at RM50 per serving. On average, about 1,500 pieces were sold daily. On
investment-related outcomes, she stated that the focus was on helping Malaysian SMEs formalize business matchings with international investors in sectors such as renewable energy, digital technology, biotechnology, real estate, infrastructure development, and elder care.

Regarding a design dispute raised by a firm claiming the pavilion design was used without compensation or credit, Nor Haslynda mentioned that discussions are still ongoing. She expressed hope that the issue would be resolved amicably and would not affect daily operations before the expo concludes on October 13, 2025.

The Malaysia Secretariat for World Expo 2025 Osaka, under the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), remains committed to ensuring the pavilion’s success. The aim is to showcase Malaysia’s diverse culture, heritage, and key economic sectors to a global audience, noted Nor Haslynda.
