Kuala Lumpur: Enhancing bilateral cooperation in investment and trade between Malaysia and Saudi Arabia was the main focus of the meeting between Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz and Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Investment, Khalid Al-Falih.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Tengku Zafrul stated that the meeting aligned with Saudi Arabia’s Saudi Vision 2030 and touched on various potential collaborations between the two countries. The discussions included potential collaborations in the Islamic finance sector, halal industry, renewable energy, construction, hospitality, and technology. Tengku Zafrul emphasized the commitment of both nations to explore new opportunities and further strengthen existing economic ties for mutual benefit.
In a separate post on May 18, Tengku Zafrul shared that he had traveled to Riyadh for the Saudi Arabia Investment and Trade Mission immediately after attending the APEC Trade Ministers’ Meeting in Jeju, South Korea. He had a productive meeting with the Gulf Cooperation Council’s (GCC) secretary-general to discuss the potential of the GCC-Malaysia Free Trade Agreement and the upcoming ASEAN-GCC Forum set to be held in Kuala Lumpur. The focus was on exploring strategic cooperation opportunities that would benefit both regions.
