Selangor: The Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) has distributed RM36.4 million in tithes to assist asnaf, the poor, and Muslim convert families with school fees and supplies for this year’s school session.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, LZS chief executive officer Mohd Sabirin Sarbini stated that the assistance would benefit 70,000 students, including 1,119 pre-schoolers, 33,117 from Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK), 7,790 from Sekolah Rendah Agama, and 36,292 from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) and Sekolah Menengah Agama. The school fee assistance will be distributed through various payment methods such as crediting it into the head of the family’s bank account, V-Cash, or cash, starting January 18.

The minimum school fee assistance for each student is RM100 for Kindergarten or Pre-School, RM150 for SK or Sekolah Rendah Agama, and RM250 for SMK or Sekolah Menengah Agama. The maximum rate for school fee assistance is RM1,200 per family, with an additional aid of up to RM800 per family, depending on the school level of the family’s dependents, as announced during the 2025 LZS Education Aid Distribution Symbolic Programme.

For assistance in the form of school supplies, SK students will receive RM170 each, Sekolah Rendah Agama students RM150 each, and SMK or Sekolah Menengah Agama students RM200 each. Students receiving aid are required to purchase a pair of school uniforms, while the remaining amount can be used for other school items such as stationery, sports or physical education attire, co-curricular attire, and books, following the set conditions and guidelines.

The assistance for school supplies will be available for redemption from this Saturday until April 17. Aid recipients from all nine districts may visit designated supermarkets or outlets to redeem school supplies based on the aid received.

During the event, Public Islamic Bank Berhad (PICC) presented wakalah contributions amounting to RM22,500 to 50 selected heads of families from the Sabak Bernam district.
