Kota Kinabalu: The Housing and Urban Development Board (LPPB) chairman Datuk Masiung Banah has directed the agency’s governance team to take resolute action to address the findings highlighted by the National Audit Department. He said serious action should be taken immediately to improve the issues raised so that they do not recur and become a persistent problem within the administration.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, earlier last month, LPPB was flagged in an audit finding concerning the unsatisfactory management of key activities for 2024, due to delays in projects involving third-party collaboration. Masiung urged relevant agencies, especially those dealing with electricity and water supply, to expedite approvals for connections to completed housing project sites.
Masiung emphasized that LPPB’s governance should not only focus on resolving audit issues but also ensure that all housing projects are implemented according to schedule. He called on all officers and staff to maintain strong teamwork, aiming for LPPB to sustain its financial performance through their activities.
Reflecting on his tenure since joining LPPB in 2020, Masiung noted that the agency’s financial performance had somewhat deteriorated. However, after introducing reforms, LPPB has secured a stable source of revenue over the past three years, enabling the agency to grant annual bonuses to its staff.
