Legendary Naval Hero On Exhibition To Tout World Tourism Day 2025 – Perzim

Kuala lumpur: The Historical Maritime Exhibition of a World Naval Hero: Enrique de Malaca in Klebang here will be held from Sept 20-30, said Melaka Museum Corporation (Perzim) board of directors chairman Datuk Akramuddin Ab Aziz. He said the exhibition, which honours the Malay warrior ‘Panglima Awang’, is being held in conjunction with World Tourism Day (WTD) and the 2025 World Tourism Conference (WTC) from Sept 27-29.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the exhibition, with free admission, is from 10 am to 6 pm from Sept 20-25 and 10 am to 10 pm from Sept 26-30. “Various exhibition materials consisting of historical documents, manuscripts, sculptures, notes and plans involving Panglima Awang and his voyages around the world can be seen up close by visitors. This initiative not only celebrates the golden era of Panglima Awang as a distinguished Malay navigator in the 16th century, but also serves to reflect and promote Melaka to the world, especially to delegates or tourists in conjunction with WTD and WTC 2025,” he said in Bandar Hilir here today.

He said this after launching the ‘School Holiday Programme: I Am a Malaysian Child’ in conjunction with the 2025 Malaysia Day celebration at the Museum of History and Ethnography, which was also attended by Perzim Museum (Education) Curator Noor Azimah Md Ali. Akramuddin said the Panglima Awang exhibition was chosen for this world-class programme to showcase to the world that Melaka was a great state in the maritime trade of the 15th century.

He said the exhibition also serves to enhance the identity of the younger generation towards the nation and state, besides increasing their knowledge of Melaka’s important history. Earlier, during the School Holiday Programme, around 30 children of various races aged seven to 12 who were born in September were celebrated in conjunction with Malaysia Day. Akramuddin said the programme serves to instil patriotism and foster unity among them from an early age.

“Various interesting activities, such as guided museum tours and decorating Malaysia-themed umbrellas, are also being held to celebrate these Malaysia Day children,” he said. He added that the children honoured at the programme were given the privilege of free entry to all museums under Perzim for one year starting today.
