Landslide-hit Road to Pos Simpor, Pos Gob Cleared, Now Accessible – DPM Ahmad Zahid

Gua Musang: The main road to Pos Simpor and Pos Gob, which was obstructed by a landslide on Saturday, has been rendered accessible again for all vehicle types, as confirmed by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. The road, crucial for access to 26 Orang Asli villages, has been cleared, with initial repair efforts currently in progress.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Zahid, who also serves as the Minister of Rural and Regional Development, has emphasized the importance of receiving regular reports to his ministry. This is to ensure continuous monitoring and strategic planning for long-term solutions. He mentioned his prior directive to the Orang Asli Development Department (JAKOA) for immediate action, in collaboration with relevant agencies, to expedite the clearing and repair of the affected road.

Ahmad Zahid noted that the landslide was likely triggered by persistent heavy rains, leading to hillside erosion and impacting the main road. This incident has affected over 2,000 residents. Furthermore, he stated that the Kelantan JAKOA had identified 12 additional locations that have experienced soil erosion and road damage.

In his response, Ahmad Zahid reiterated the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development’s dedication to ensuring the safety, welfare, and accessibility of Orang Asli communities, particularly during unexpected natural calamities. He assured that no rural community would be overlooked or unsupported by government initiatives and protective measures.

Previously, Bernama reported that access to the Orang Asli settlements in Gua Musang was severed after Saturday’s landslide blocked the main road to Pos Simpor and Pos Gob, impacting over 3,000 residents.
