KLFA Partially Settles EPF Arrears For Players.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Kuala Lumpur Football Association (KLFA) has settled part of the outstanding Employees Provident Fund (EPF) contributions for Kuala Lumpur City FC (KL City) players, which have been overdue since 2021 up to February this year.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, KLFA president Syed Yazid Syed Omar stated that the association has paid RM50,000 towards the EPF arrears, with plans to pay the remaining balance in stages. ‘EPF contributions for this month and the coming months will continue to be paid as usual. We have paid RM50,000 for EPF arrears over 24 months,’ he informed reporters at the KLFA Football Supporters Club’s Annual General Meeting.

Syed Yazid also mentioned that one month’s salary arrears for October are expected to be credited into the players’ accounts by tomorrow. He explained that the payment was made last week, but technical issues from the bank caused a minor delay.

In another development, Syed Yazid revealed KLFA’s interest in acquiring full ownership of the Kuala Lumpur
Football Stadium in Cheras from Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL). ‘We need to meet the new Mayor, and as part of the previous process, we had signed an agreement with DBKL for 15 years,’ he said.

Additionally, Syed Yazid announced that the association will provide Malaysia Cup match tickets and T-shirts to members of the KLFA Football Supporters Club and will donate RM5,000 to the club. Earlier, Syazrul Effendy Ibrahim was re-elected as president of the KLFA Football Supporters Club for the 2024-2026 term.
