Kelantan Police Caution Against Using Illegal Routes To Thailand

Kelantan: The public has been reminded not to use illegal routes to enter Thailand despite congestion at the Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) complexes in Rantau Panjang, Pengkalan Kubor and Bukit Bunga. Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said travellers must follow legal channels or risk stern action under Section 5(2) of the Immigration Act, which carries a fine of up to RM10,000.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the police chief emphasized the need for compliance with the law amidst the congestion caused by thousands taking advantage of the long holiday to travel and shop in Thailand. He reiterated that while the border is experiencing heavy traffic, it is crucial for travellers to adhere to legal procedures.

Datuk Mohd Yusoff also urged Malaysians holidaying in Thailand to remain vigilant, ensure they have proper travel documents, obey traffic laws, and avoid bringing prohibited items into Malaysia. He added that police are actively monitoring border entry points to ensure the safety and smooth movement of travellers.

The Malaysia Day holiday has led to long vehicle queues at ICQS complexes since Sunday, highlighting the significant increase in travel activity during this period.
