Indonesian Man Dies Following Police Struggle in Bukit Jambul Incident

Kuala lumpur: An Indonesian man died following a confrontation with police during his arrest after a violent episode at Taman Bukit Jambul near Bukit Jambul last Saturday. Acting Penang police chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin stated that an autopsy revealed the man, suspected to be an undocumented migrant due to the absence of valid travel documents, succumbed to a heart attack.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the incident began at approximately 6.20 pm when police received a complaint about a man acting violently and wielding an iron rod at Block D, Taman Bukit Jambul. A police team was dispatched to the scene, where they were confronted by the suspect, who attacked one of the officers by punching him several times and attempting to seize his firearm.

The situation escalated until members of the public assisted police in subduing the man. He was subsequently taken to the Sungai Nibong Police Station, where he unexpectedly collapsed. He was rushed to Penang Hospital but was pronounced dead.

The autopsy confirmed that a heart attack was the cause of death, and the case is currently classified as a sudden death report (SDR). Prior to the altercation, the suspect was reported to have smashed a resident’s car window and committed a break-in at a flat unit, prompting residents to alert the authorities.

Efforts are ongoing to identify the man, as he was without identification documents, and local residents claimed they were unfamiliar with him.
