Kuala Lumpur: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) today confirmed that the newly appointed Inspector-General of Police, Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail, has never been a member nor held any position in any political party. This statement comes amidst recent allegations suggesting otherwise.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, PDRM secretary Datuk Kamaruzaman Abdullah addressed the issue, highlighting the significance of the erroneous report published by a newspaper linking Mohd Khalid to a local political party. He emphasized that the statement was not only untrue and misleading but also created a false perception that could potentially cast doubt on the credibility of the country’s security forces.
Datuk Kamaruzaman criticized the media outlet’s negligence in publishing unverified information, which he claimed has tarnished the reputation of both the police force and Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail. He reiterated the importance of journalistic ethics, insisting that all published reports should be based on verified facts, thorough cross-checking, and integrity in writing.
He further stressed that the police force is built upon the principles of neutrality, integrity, and professionalism. As such, PDRM will not tolerate any actions that could undermine public trust in the institution. Datuk Kamaruzaman concluded by reaffirming PDRM’s commitment to its responsibility of safeguarding national security and maintaining public order.
