Ibrahim-Class Boat Debuts At 2025 National Day Celebration

Kuala lumpur: The Ibrahim Class Boat of the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) made its debut at today’s National Day parade. MMEA director-general Admiral Datuk Mohd Rosli Abdullah announced that the vessel, a royal gift from His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, was constructed by Royal Boat Hangar Johor.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the handover of the boat on March 6 represented the King’s commitment to supporting Maritime Malaysia’s mission to maintain high-level security in the nation’s waters. Admiral Mohd Rosli shared these details with reporters following the 2025 National Day celebration, which was attended by notable figures, including Sultan Ibrahim, Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, and other government officials and diplomats.

The vessel, constructed from marine-grade aluminium, boasts a design prioritizing durability and stability. Measuring 12.6 metres in length with a 3.5-metre beam, it is powered by three 300-horsepower Mercury outboard motors, allowing it to reach speeds of up to 56 knots, with an optimal cruising speed of 40 knots. This capability positions it as a high-speed interceptor for peak performance operations.

The asset has been provided on a cost-free five-year loan to enhance the MMEA’s patrol and operational capabilities. Mohd Rosli noted that as per a decision by MMEA’s top management on April 30, the boat was assigned to the Johor Maritime office.

Beyond the Ibrahim-class boat, the MMEA showcased its rescue swimmer team, trained for life-saving sea missions under extreme conditions. The team comprises 11 operational members and 12 trainees, ensuring they are mission-ready at all times.

Addressing maritime security, Mohd Rosli highlighted a decline in cross-border crimes, including human smuggling, incursions by foreign fishermen, and drug trafficking. This trend underscores the successful efforts of Maritime Malaysia and partner agencies like the Marine Police and the Royal Malaysian Navy in protecting the nation’s waters.
