Kuala lumpur: Measures to strengthen health insurance regulations, the retirement savings of Employees Provident Fund (EPF) contributors, and talent identification programmes for volleyball are among the key issues to be raised during today's Dewan Rakyat sitting. According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Order Paper on the Parliament portal indicates that during Question Time, Tan Kok Wai (PH-Cheras) will question the Finance Minister about the government's plans to enhance insurance regulations. The focus will be on protecting policyholders, particularly critical illness and cancer patients, from policy cancellations and unfair claim rejections, alongside improving transparency and dispute resolution mechanisms. Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun (PH-Port Dickson) is also set to inquire about the government's strategy to ensure Malaysians have sufficient retirement savings, especially among EPF contributors, amid the rising cost of living and the country's rapidly ageing population by 2030. During the same session, Zakri Hassan (PN-Kangar) will address the Youth and Sports Minister regarding the ministry's initiatives to identify and nurture talent, specifically for indoor and beach volleyball. Hassan Saad (PN-Baling) plans to seek clarification from the Communications Minister on the effectiveness of the National Information Dissemination Centres (NADI) in enhancing the socio-economic status of rural communities, considering the ongoing gaps in internet access, digital skills, and marketing capabilities among small entrepreneurs. Moreover, attention is expected to be drawn to questions concerning the impact of the Mobile eCOSS application, introduced in May 2025, on curbing leakages involving subsidised packet cooking oil. The effectiveness of financing schemes in supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) will also be addressed by the respective ministers. The session will continue with a briefing by the chairman of the Health Select Committee on the committee's report concerning the reform of the Nati onal Organ Donation and Transplant System. Additionally, the Dewan Rakyat is scheduled to advance with the committee-stage debate and winding-up on the Competition (Amendment) Bill 2026, along with the second reading of the Competition Commission (Amendment) Bill 2026. The Second Meeting of the Fifth Session of the 15th Parliament is planned to last for 16 days, concluding on July 16.
