HAWANA 2025 Roadshow to Educate Polytechnic Students on Cyber Safety

Shah alam: The National Journalists Day (HAWANA) 2025 Roadshow with Polytechnic Students, which kicks off tomorrow, is expected to serve as a platform to raise awareness on cyber safety.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Malaysian National News Agency chief executive officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin stated that the roadshow aims to introduce students to the journalism industry in Malaysia while focusing on internet safety to ensure students remain vigilant online. The initiative has garnered support from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to provide insights on internet safety and associated risks.

Nur-ul Afida emphasized the importance of students understanding the need to stay cautious when using gadgets and internet applications. The roadshow seeks to prevent students from becoming victims of online scams and aligns with the Ministry of Communications’ emphasis on cyber safety.

She shared these insights after reviewing the final preparations for the HAWANA 2025 Roadshow at Politeknik Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah. Present at the event were Bernama’s head of Corporate Affairs, Mariati Mohd Arif, and head of the HAWANA 2025 Roadshow with Polytechnic Students programme, Zaria Mohd Nasri.

Mazlan Abd Mutalib, Senior Undersecretary (Management) of the Ministry of Communications, is scheduled to launch the roadshow. The first stop, Politeknik Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah in Shah Alam, will feature sessions on Mobile Journalism, Fact-Checking, and the Safe Internet Campaign talk.

Nur-ul Afida mentioned that approximately 600 students and lecturers from four polytechnics and one community college in Selangor are expected to attend. Plans are underway to expand the roadshow to Johor, after having engaged with 16 public universities across six zones last year.
