Jerusalem: The Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0 mission has been described as a success as it exerted major pressure on Israel and opened the world's eyes to the regime's cruelty towards humanitarian activists participating in the mission.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Sumud Nusantara Command Centre (SNCC) director-general Datuk Sani Araby Abdul Alim Araby stated that mounting global pressure had shaken Israel significantly. This pressure has led to calls for the dissolution of the Knesset following the circulation of a video allegedly showing the harsh treatment of GSF 2.0 humanitarian activists.
A video uploaded by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir went viral on social media, depicting activists detained with their hands tied and forced to kneel after being apprehended by Israeli forces in international waters. This has fueled international anger towards Israel, leading to diplomatic demarches and notes that go beyond mere condemnation.
Sani Araby highlighted that pressure is now coming not only from expected international quarters but also from within Israel and allied nations. He emphasized that the mission has succeeded in raising global awareness and unsettling the Israeli regime. He also mentioned the issuance of arrest warrants against five high-ranking Israeli figures, including the Finance Minister and Interior Minister, as a significant development.
Furthermore, Sani Araby confirmed that all 428 GSF 2.0 humanitarian activists, including 29 Malaysians, have been released and are expected to return home this Sunday. He acknowledged the role of Malaysia's close diplomatic ties with Turkiye in facilitating the early release of Malaysian activists, noting the special priority given to the Malaysian delegation during their return.
