Kuala lumpur: The Global Automotive Technology Expo (GATE) 2025 is projected to attract approximately RM500 million in trade and investment value, as announced by its co-organiser, the Malaysia Automotive Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, MARii’s chief executive officer, Azrul Reza Aziz, highlighted that the expo aims to enhance trade activities within the automotive sector supply chains and sees a potential for integrating semiconductors into the automotive industry. He emphasized that GATE 2025 will serve as a business matching platform, facilitating direct engagement between local automotive vendors and global players.
Azrul Reza mentioned that the expo will act as a global assembly point for industry players keen on increasing localisation and sourcing components for global supply chains. Additionally, he pointed out the opportunity for local players to export their products internationally. The GATE 2025 Premiere event, held today, underscored these objectives.
The event is expected to foster international collaborations, with up to 10 memoranda of understanding anticipated to be exchanged. Azrul Reza outlined the projected vendor participation, with 70 percent local and 30 percent international involvement, reflecting a commitment to boosting Malaysia’s domestic capabilities alongside technology transfer and foreign collaboration.
GATE 2025 is anticipated to host over 350 companies and welcome 20,000 visitors from key markets such as China, France, Germany, and regions across Europe, the Middle East, and ASEAN. Currently, 60 percent of the 350 companies have confirmed their participation.
The event, co-organised with Derrisen Sdn Bhd, aligns with ASEAN’s sustainability agenda, focusing on green mobility, technology integration, and environmental stewardship. Scheduled for November 12-14, 2025, at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, GATE 2025 will be inaugurated by Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz, with the closing ceremony presided over by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
