Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Food Bank Organisation (Food Bank Malaysia) will be organising screenings of classic films in an open-air cinema format to enliven the National Month celebrations in this city. Its chairman, Mohd Azrul Mohd Razak, highlighted that this initiative aims to allow the public to reminisce about history while fostering a spirit of nationalism within society.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the screenings will feature various classic films, including those acted by the late National Artiste Tan Sri P. Ramlee, and will be open to the public. These events are scheduled to take place every Friday starting August 22 at Warong Jalan Day, from 8 to 11 pm.
Mohd Azrul mentioned that tickets will be available at a price as low as RM5 for adults and children aged six and above, while senior citizens and persons with disabilities will enjoy free entry. Tickets are set to go on sale tomorrow through Food Bank Malaysia’s social media platforms and will be limited to only 30 buyers each week due to seating capacity constraints.
He further explained that all proceeds from ticket sales would be channelled to Food Bank Malaysia for charitable purposes. Additionally, each ticket purchaser will receive a complimentary set meal and drink, subject to terms and conditions. The programme aims to raise funds to help provide free food to the underprivileged around the state.
Mohd Azrul also mentioned that for any enquiries and further information, the public can contact the secretariat through the link www.wasap.my/60129960559/wayang. Visitors dressed in classic style or National Day-themed outfits during the screenings will have the opportunity to be selected as lucky viewers and win special prizes.
