Flood-Affected Students Granted Extension for SPM Bahasa Melayu Oral Test Until Thursday.

KUALA LUMPUR: Students who were unable to sit for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) Bahasa Melayu oral test yesterday due to the floods have been given the flexibility to take the test until Thursday. Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek announced the decision, emphasizing the importance of ensuring that no affected candidates miss this crucial examination.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Minister Fadhlina Sidek stated that the flexible approach was implemented to accommodate students facing difficulties due to the recent floods. She made these remarks while speaking to reporters after attending the Wacana Kejayaan exhibition at the Parliament building. The oral test, which began yesterday, is scheduled to continue until Thursday, December 5.

The minister also highlighted the ministry’s focus on the emotional recovery of students impacted by the floods, aiming to mentally prepare them for the examination. Despite the challenges, she confirmed that the oral test proceeded smoothly across the nation, includin
g in flood-affected regions. To facilitate this, students were relocated to selected hostels, ensuring the examination timeline remained unaffected.

Minister Fadhlina also mentioned her recent visits to flood-hit areas, including Kelantan, while the education director-general and ministry secretary-general monitored Terengganu and Kedah, respectively. These efforts, in collaboration with state education departments and related agencies, aim to prevent any major disruptions to candidates’ attendance during the exams.

Additionally, she commented on the successful implementation of Ops Payung, an operation designed to ensure the safety of students during the examination period. The minister expressed gratitude to all agencies involved for their continued support and assistance in managing the situation.
