Johor bahru: The federal and state governments need to work together to build strong stability in facing future economic challenges for the benefit of the people, Amanah President Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu said. He emphasized that the political instability that occurred in the country after the 2018 general election should serve as a lesson to all parties, including voters, so that a similar situation does not recur.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohamad Sabu mentioned that all parties should give sufficient space to governments, whether at the state or federal level, to complete their respective terms of administration in order to provide the best possible service. He stressed the need for cooperation between the state and federal governments, particularly highlighting the importance of allowing Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to complete his mandate at the federal level.
Meanwhile, Johor PH chairman Aminolhuda Hassan noted that voters, particularly in Johor, appear to be becoming more mature in making political choices and are prioritizing government stability to ensure the well-being of the people. Aminolhuda, who is also Johor Amanah chairman, described the upcoming state election as a true test, unlike the previous state election, which recorded a low voter turnout of only about 55 percent.
He attributed the subdued atmosphere during the 2022 state election to public concern over the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, he expressed confidence that with current circumstances, voters would no longer fear going out to fulfill their civic responsibility. Aminolhuda predicted a higher voter turnout in the next state election, with people making wise choices for their own well-being, acknowledging who has supported them through various public-oriented programs.
The 2022 election saw Barisan Nasional successfully forming the state government with a two-thirds majority after winning 40 of the 56 state seats, while Pakatan Harapan won 12 seats, Perikatan Nasional secured three seats, and Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (MUDA) won one seat.
